BMRC Hospital started its journey as a Multi Specialty Hospital at Barrackpore in 2005 to grow into a state of the art 100 bedded Multi Specialty Hospital with Super Specialty facilities offering total medical solutions to its patients. Although the socio-economic standing of the catchments area from where the patients are drawn is comparatively backward, which affects the commercial prospects of the Hospital considerably, the Management preferred to take the challenge in order to provide super specialty service to the people to whom such service was, hitherto, out of reach. Thus, commercial considerations never overtook the commitment for providing quality service.
Out of this commitment, BMRC Hospital Ltd. have entered into Public Private Partnership with the Government of West Bengal to serve more than 3500 dialysis patients at different units located in 20 Govt Hospitals across the length and breadth of the State. In spite of all the hurdles associated with operating and maintaining so many establishments at far corners of the State, the Management felt it preferable to shoulder such hurdles so that the ailing souls at remote areas may have access to the latest healthcare facilities.
With advancement in science and technology, there occurred a sea change in healthcare facilities, but the importance of compassion for the pain and suffering of patients remains unchanged. Patients who are shown concern by the medical personnel are more likely to be comfortable in times of illness, pain and mental stress. Whether preparing for surgery, recovering from an injury or fighting a disease, kindliness can help make pain more tolerable and ease the minds of nervous patients. Compassionate care gives patients support and confidence when they need it most. Therefore, it’s our motto to serve each and every patient with sympathy and respect and at the same time we must understand that these values are attainable only if we thrive for professional competency and organizational commitment.
We believe that we are capable of observing these traits and by observing the same we can set us apart from the rest.
Mrs Mita Das, MD, BMRC Hospital
The BMRC Hospital Ltd was established in 2005 to provide affordable medical care in a patient-friendly atmosphere and in a spirit of compassion previously beyond the reach of the common man living in the catchment area. Since opening its doors in 2005, more than three million patients have benefitted from the treatment provided by BMRC Hospital. We could reach this landmark since we are not running our institution as just another business. We are dedicated to creating an affordable, benchmarked, quality-driven healthcare services model.
Since the inauguration of BMRC Hospital, we have made remarkable progress. This has only been possible through the extraordinary help and cooperation that we have received from West Bengal Government, the Government of India, and the dedication of the doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals of this institution.
BMRC Hospital was founded on the highest principles with an emphasis on compassionate service to people and excellence through education and we will continue to trust what has worked for us in the past. However, in view of shortfall of primary care providers in our country, it is necessary to establish more institutions to cater to the growing need for doctors, nurses and medical technicians. We firmly believe that our organisation is ideally suited to meet these new challenges. BMRC Hospital’ commitment to being a centre of excellence both in medical training and the practice of medicine will enable talented young men and women to excel in their chosen professions. In keeping with the commitment, BMRC Hospital is opening new Cath lab & MRI units and expanding the existing facilities at the annexe building in the vicinity of the present hospital building. Barrackpore Academy, another initiative to impart a fine technical education is on the go.
The management is now focusing on the establishment of a Medical College to fulfil its commitment toward producing the very best practitioners of medicine in the country.
It is these exciting prospects that kindle our motivation to do bigger and better for the service of humanity.
Mr. Anjan Das, Director, BMRC Hospital
